A hands-on leadership development program focused on building the habits, practices, and interpersonal skills that create and sustain high-performing teams. Beyond theories of leadership, this course focuses on what leaders do every day: how to motivate, communicate, delegate, manage performance, and lead through change in today’s environment of hybrid work, rapid change, and diversity.

Course Outline

Module 1: Motivating Teams in Today’s Workplace

  • What motivates individuals & teams today: meaning, flexibility, recognition, growth
  • Intrinsic vs extrinsic motivators; generational/cultural diversity in what motivates
  • Techniques to engage teams, build ownership, and commitment
  • Habit building: how to keep motivation sustained over time
  • Exercise: Participants interview current or former team members (or role-play) to map different motivators in their own teams; then co-design a motivation plan for their team.

Module 2: Practices of High-Performance Leadership

  • Turning a group into a cohesive team: trust, clarity, shared purpose
  • Delegation that empowers; clarifying roles & accountability
  • Running efficient meetings that add value and reduce time waste
  • Leadership behaviours that build consistency, reliability, and credibility
  • Case Study: Analyze a high-performing (or struggling) team’s dynamics in a real organization (local or global) to extract what practices made the difference; present “lessons learned.”

Module 3: Managing Team Performance & Culture

  • Setting goals, KPIs, standards, and tracking progress
  • Recognizing and rewarding good performance; celebrating achievements
  • Handling under-performance in a constructive, fair way
  • Building a high-performance culture: expectations, norms, continuous feedback
  • Group Project: Create a performance improvement plan for a hypothetical or participants’ real team that includes culture change, KPI setting, recognition, and corrective support.

Module 4: Communication, Feedback & Competences of the Team Leader

  • Communicating purpose, objectives, and tasks clearly & with alignment
  • Active listening, questioning, empathy, giving & receiving feedback
  • Recruiting and retaining the right people; diversity, inclusion & psychological safety
  • Ongoing development: coaching, mentoring, continuous learning
  • Exercise: In small groups, role-play feedback conversations (both positive and corrective), with peer observation and coaching; also design a team member retention or development plan.

Module 5: Leading Change & Resilience in Teams

  • Understanding emotional stages of change; how people respond in teams
  • Supporting team resilience: coping with uncertainty, stress, remote or hybrid work challenges
  • Valuing diversity and inclusion in change; leveraging different perspectives
  • Building continuous action & improvement plan as a practical leader
  • Capstone / Project: Develop a “Team Resilience & Change Roadmap” for the participant’s own team or organization. Include strategies for maintaining performance during change, building diversity & inclusion, and sustaining team well-being and motivation.

Course Administration Details:

METHODOLOGY

The instructor-led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprise presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials, and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professionals and trainers in these fields. All facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. The participants should be reasonably proficient in English.

ACCREDITATION

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued a Skillstate Institute certificate.

TRAINING VENUE

The training will be held at a Skillstate Institute Training Centre. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, and lunch. All participants will additionally cater to their travel expenses, visa application, insurance, and other personal expenses.
